Form-Fit-Function Replacement Parts
When the OEM part is discontinued, on a nine-month lead time, or priced as if your plant has no alternative — we make a drop-in equivalent.
What form-fit-function means in practice
A form-fit-function replacement matches the original in physical envelope, mounting interface and operating behaviour. It installs into the existing equipment with no modification to anything around it, and behaves the same way in service. That last part is where most cheap copies fail: the geometry matches but the material, hardness or finish does not, and the part fails early.
How we establish the original specification
We start with the sample and, where available, the failed one — the failure tells us as much as the drawing would. Dimensional measurement, material and hardness identification, and analysis of the wear pattern establish what the part actually has to do. Manufacturing then follows through our machining and fabrication capability.
Obsolescence as an ongoing programme
For plants running equipment past OEM support, the sensible approach is to reverse engineer critical spares before they fail, not after. We hold the drawing pack so a repeat order is a phone call, and pair it with sourcing for the bought-in items around it.
Scope of work
- Dimensional reverse engineering from original or failed samples
- Material and hardness identification
- Failure-mode analysis before reproduction
- Drop-in replacements requiring no surrounding modification
- Drawing pack retained for repeat orders
- Dimensional inspection against the established specification
Common questions
Is a reverse-engineered part as good as the OEM original?
It should be at least as good, because we design against the observed failure mode rather than copying it. Where we identify a material or geometry weakness in the original, we tell you and offer the improved option alongside the like-for-like.
How long does a replacement part take?
For a straightforward machined component, typically two to four weeks from sample to delivered part. Complex assemblies or parts needing certified material take longer, and we give a firm date at quotation.
